Thank you for visiting my website. Please also visit the subsections of this website for information on intelligent design, science and religion and Biblical archaeology. Let me tell you a little about myself and how God nudged me to Christian apologetics and theology. About nine years ago, I attended a Search Ministry Christian conference in Dallas, TX where I met Lee Strobel (author of The Case for Christ and several other books). Lee spoke at the conference along with Dr. Craig Hazen, the dean of apologetics at Talbot School of Theology, Biola University in La Mirada, CA. I was a practicing admiralty attorney for many years and had many questions concerning the accuracy and authenticity of the Bible and other aspects of Christianity. When it
came to "religion" my analytical skills and evidentiary training as a lawyer compelled me to “cross-examine” Christianity much like Lee Strobel while researching his book. Even after attending a Christian boarding school, undergrad university and law school my faith in Christianity was at best strained and practically non-existent. However, I had the opportunity to talk with Lee and realized we had similar backgrounds in our legal training, doubts concerning Scripture and the historicity of Jesus. Just before this conference I became a Christian through "crisis faith" when I lost my law practice, wife and ultimately, self worth (By the way, I finally learned that true self worth and humility are fostered by and through God). Lee suggested that I apply to the apologetics master’s program at the Talbot School of Theology at Biola University. However, after a highly successful legal career as a lawyer and partner at prestigious New Orleans law firms, going back to graduate school to study theology and apologetics
seemed, well . . . NUTS! At this point, some of you may be asking, “What is 'apologetics' and why do you have to apologize?” A fair question that is asked at many of my lectures. “Apologetics” is from the Greek word, apologia, which simply means the defence of the Christian faith. It usually encompasses science, archaeology, Biblical hermeneutics, cosmology and theology among other disciplines. I knew my days of practicing law were probably over and God nudged me to the Biola University table where I inquired about the graduate program in apologetics and theology. I applied and the following year was accepted. I have had the privilege to study and learn from some the best theological and philosophical minds in the world, including William Lane Craig, J.P. Moreland and others. I graduated with a master’s degree in Christian apologetics and theology and plan to pursue my Ph.D in theology. One thing I learned through my academic and personal Christian journey is that intellectualizing faith and theology need to be united with faith and grace through one's heart and soul.
I am retired from practicing law and presently engaged in discipleship, teaching, speaking and various missions in the U.S. and Belize, Central America. I have presented various topics on apologetics, science & religion, Biblical hermeneutics and theology to several universities, business groups, churches and other venues. I hold a juris doctorate from Loyola School of Law, masters degree in theological apologetics from Biola's Talbot School of Theology and an ACPE certified chaplain. My wife, Valorie, and I live on Ambergris Caye, Belize where we help support and minister to several missions and teach apologetics and Bible studies. We also assist and minister to the island's special needs children and their families with medical and spiritual support. In our downtime, Val and I are avid sailors, divers and evangelicals.
I am available for ZOOM meetings and presentations on theological apologetics and Bible studies.
